I never expected someone to make this, but it's something I've always wanted. Thanks.

Update: The RAR file I downloaded is corrupted. Has anyone had any similar errors?

Redownloading the RAR file gave me a clean copy. The fault was probably MegaUpload's.
The mod functions as intended. Textures in Ascalon City, Old Ascalon, and Sardelac Sanitarium are altered.
Only textures at high detail are altered, meaning that running this mod with terrain quality less than "High" will have no visible effect. It also means that only the textures closest to you are shown as intended (except in screenshots), as LOD textures have not been altered, giving a "chunky" feel during actual play.
All in all, this is nice for screenshots.

here's the repost of the mirror i posted on that topic

Not to be completely noob-ish about this, but I'm a fan of modding Oblivion but had no idea you could mod GW. I assume it just replaces textures, and only "sticks" so long as they don't update content that would overwrite the particular texture. Where can I learn about GW modding, what is allowed and what isn't, that sorta thing? Can someone point me to a GREAT thread about it?

Official Wiki Page
ANet has said that modifying textures (and it is just as you said, simply client-side modification of textures, nothing more) is alright, in that they won't go after you for doing it. However, if you screw up your computer or game, they also won't help you. Of course, the worst thing that could happen is needing to reinstall GW I think.

i hope you extracted the textures from last Wintersday or you're gonna wait
But i dont think more than changing sky/ground textures can be done
i dunno how to make things "darker". I was wondering if a "lighting" effect such as the one outside Ember Light Camp can be modded. Didnt figured that out, though ^^ (Night/Day feature ftw )
